After the Northern troops burned Willow Point Plantation, the largest, most wealthy place in this county, the Barrington family moved into the Inn. Miss Margaret Barrington lived on here for almost 10 years. This room became the whole world to the emotionally fragile lady, and she seldom left the Inn for any reason.
Over the years, guests, servants and family have often spoken of seeing her ghost roam these halls. They tell of a woman in an old fashioned dress, walking slowly down the stairs, humming and fanning her face, and of a faint odor of gunpowder. How could they know, that Miss Margaret Barrington was never without a ladies fan, or a derringer hidden in her skirts.
If you should happen to pass Miss Margaret's ghost on the stairs, be sure not to disturb her reverie...she believed to her dying day that Willow Point still stood proudly all in one piece. We don't want to upset her, now do we?
