This beautiful old Inn has stood here since my ancestor Mercilynn Carter and her husband Matthew Nichols settled here in 1825. The story is he won the deed to the land in the very last poker game his wife ever let him play!

Situated between two settlements, The Dew Drop Inn, quickly became a familiar landmark in these parts. Well known for good food, cheap rooms and all the gossip for miles in any direction, it seldom had vacancies. Matthew and Mercilynn became well-to-do, and enlarged and fixed up the place. The Inn today covers about the same land space as the original buildings, though the roof has been raised a couple of times to add rooms. And still, we seldom have vacancies.

Come...follow me upstairs and I will show you around. If we are lucky...we may even run into the ghost that some say still lives here.
