I do declare...almost every boarding house, saloon, roadside eatery and inn claims that General Robert E Lee paid them a visit. But in our case, it is true. Just before the hostilities, General Lee rode through The Flats, and spent a few days here. His signature in the old guestbook has been authenticated!

During the Conflict, he again paid a visit, requesting the same bedroom, thus since that time, this has been called The Robert E Lee Bedroom. It is remarkable to note that the Inn sustained little damage during heavy fighting in the area. Legend has it, The General ordered that the canons be pointed elsewhere, and that no harm come to the place, and none did.

Needless to say, we reserve this room for special guests.
